> College Preparatory Instruction

Thurgood Marshall Academy uses proven educational methods that stress excellence in instruction and high expectations for students. All of our core courses are aligned with DCPS standards, and we provide extra sections of math and reading for 9th- and 10th-graders to build higher-order skills while addressing remedial needs. Our benchmark assessment system tracks student progress and helps teachers address specific learning needs.

Every student is prepared for college with rigorous academic classes, an SAT preparation class, and after-school academic support. In addition, we offer honors English and math courses for every grade as well as two honors science classes. We also offer Advanced Placement courses such as AP American History and AP English–Language for our students to gain college credit. We have partnerships with Georgetown University, George Washington University, and American University that give students the opportunity to take college courses—and receive credit at the college of their choice—while in high school.
