Enrollment & Application
Thurgood Marshall Academy enrolls students entering the 9th and 10th grades. Applications may be submitted beginning December 1, 2011 for the 2012-2013 school year. The open enrollment period ends on February 29.
Once an application has been received, the applicant is scheduled for an Admissions Workshop. After the Admissions Workshop is completed, the student becomes eligible for admission for the following school year. Students are added to the New Student Enrollment Roster only after completing the Registration Process detailed in their admissions letters.
If Thurgood Marshall Academy is undersubscribed at the end of the enrollment period, we will continue rolling admissions throughout the school year until capacity is reached. Once capacity is reached, any additional applicants will be placed on a waiting list by grade level in the order applications are received.
If Thurgood Marshall Academy is oversubscribed at the end of the enrollment period, all applications will be included in a lottery. The lottery randomly selects eligible applicants for enrollment; any applicants who are not chosen through the lottery are put on the waiting list.
As spaces become available, they will be made available to applicants on the waiting list in the order of their placement on the list.
Thurgood Marshall Academy does not admit students after the school’s official enrollment has been certified. Please note that Thurgood Marshall Academy administrators reserve the right to review and approve cases with extenuating circumstances.
In the operation of the child feeding programs, no child will be discriminated against because of race, color, sex, national origin, age, disability, political beliefs, sexual orientation, or marital and family status. If you believe you have been discriminated against, contact the Government of the District of Columbia’s Office of Human Rights at (202) 727-3534, or the United States Department of Agriculture’s Office of Civil Rights at (202) 720-5694 (Voice and TDD).
Application Deadlines
The application deadline for 2012-2013 is February 29, 2012. If spaces remain available after this deadline, applicants will be considered on a first-come, first-served basis.
