Thurgood Marshall Academy offers many different opportunities for community involvement.

Donations and Sponsorships
We spend over $4,000 more per student than we get through per-pupil funding. Do you want to help ensure that our students receive the education they need and deserve? See our online donation page.
The 8th Annual Shining Star Gala is fast approaching. Sponsor the event or purchase a ticket and help make sure our students receive the support they need to succeed.

Volunteer Opportunities

Tutoring
On Mondays (3:45 – 5:00 pm) and Thursdays (4:15 – 5:30 pm), Thurgood Marshall Academy matches students from all grade levels with one-on-one tutors to provide students with the resources they need to understand and complete their homework. We need tutors for all subject areas including math, science, history, English, law, and Spanish.  If you are interested in tutoring a Thurgood Marshall Academy student, please contact us.

Mentoring
Thurgood Marshall Academy pairs a student with a professional adult who can offer support, advice, and guidance during a student's final years of high school and the critical post-secondary planning process. Mentoring can improve a student's attitude toward school, enhance his/her confidence, and afford the invaluable opportunity to interact with a positive role model. Interested? Check out our Be a Mentor page.
Law Days
Local law firms host our 9th-grade students in monthly workshops designed to familiarize students with the US Legal system through mock trials, round table discussions, and interactive case studies. Georgetown Law Center's Street Law Clinic provides curricula and training for host firms. If you would more information about hosting Law Day at your firm, please contact us.
