> Parental Involvement

Thurgood Marshall Academy is committed to involving parents in their child's education. To that end, we offer parents a variety of ways to participate in the school community.

• We send monthly letters to parents updating them on school goings-on. These include the dates of all Open Houses, upcoming PTO meetings, a school calendar, and other school events. The newsletters and calendar are also available at the bottom of this page.
• We send home two progress reports a quarter as well as quarterly report cards.
• We ask at least one parent or guardian to sit on annual portfolio panel presentations.
• Two or more parents serve on the Board of Trustees.
• The Parent Teacher Organization (PTO) has monthly meetings complete with childcare and hosts a variety of social and informative activities such as poetry night and a college financial aid workshop.

Thurgood Marshall Academy employs a Family Coordinator to work with parents individually and through our Parent Teacher Organization (PTO).
